Andy Dorais is no stranger to moving quickly and efficiently in the mountains. Although he started out as a track-star in Indiana during his childhood, he quickly adopted the lifestyle of a ski-mountaineer after moving west to be closer to the mountains. With the hefty duty of finding the perfect balance between adventures in the mountains, spending time with his wife and kids, and working as a full-time medical professional, Andy has become very proficient in the techniques of traveling light and fast to provide himself with sessions of climbing and skiing in the mountains before work, after work, and on the weekends. Andy resides in Utah and has traveled all over the place in pursuit to establish impressive lines and FKTs in high alpine terrain, including his time spent representing the U.S.A. during the 2015 ISMF World Championships.

Beal Gully Unicore

"This is the lightest half rope on the market. This is my go to rope for any winter mountain adventure. Weighing 36 g/m the weight penalty is paltry and it's easy to make the decision to bring it along. Plus, the colors are fantastic!"

Garmin Fenix 6

"Historically the problem with GPS watches was the battery life. Well, and how big they were. The Garmin Fenix 6 PRO is the latest evolution in GPS watches that provides an insane 36 hours of battery life while in GPS mode. I like long adventures and have had watches die on me before. It would take a massive adventure to exceed this. Add in the smart watch capabilities of phone connection, music, navigation, HR and pulse ox, wallet pay, and more and it becomes an incredibly powerful tool for the mountains and daily life."

Grivel Ski Tour New Matic

"We often get away with going without crampons in the Wasatch but getting caught without can really ruin the day. This ski boot specific crampon weighs almost nothing and is so easy to put on that it's easy to transition on a steep firm slope. These factors make it easier to make the decision to put them in the pack and then to put them on while climbing, increasing the margin of safety. This crampon is perfect for skiing the trade routes on Mount Rainier."
