SOLID MOUNTAIN GEAR

Nearly 60 years ago Edelweiss invented the core and sheath construction of modern climbing ropes. ROPE TECHNOLOGY

With a standard rope, if the sheath is cut by abrasion over an edge (a frequent occurrence in work at height and in rescues) it slides several meters and gathers in a big bunch. It then becomes impossible to pass this zone, either ascending or descending. If the problem occurs near the end of the rope the sheath may slide off completely, and the user could fall to the ground. With the UNICORE process, the sheath remains in place and the user may escape safely, either by descent or ascent. They are not stuck without a solution on the rope. The UNICORE process brings an undeniable gain in security, especially during delicate and dangerous operations.

Edelweiss was the first climbing rope maker to apply a Supereverdry treatment to its fibers. This makes the ropes ligther because they dry quicker and tend to not stiffen if they were to freeze. During the certification process, the SUPEREVERDRY treated ropes were proven to absorb less than 1.5% water.
