Jackson Schor Employee Spotlight

Tell us about yourself.

I grew up in New Hampshire and all I cared about as a kid was skiing in the terrain park. I completed most of my high school online which enabled me to train year round for park skiing up in the White Mountains. I moved out to Utah to go to school at the University of Utah in 2017. The mountains quickly caused me to lose interest in the park and head into the backcountry.

What is your role at Liberty Mountain?

I am a buyer. My main categories include winter sports, watersports, electronics, bike, and cargo.

How long have you been working at Liberty Mountain?

I started at Liberty Mountain as an assistant buyer back in November of 2020.

What is a typical day in the life like for you at Liberty Mountain?

A standard day for me is usually a split between working with items in NAV and corresponding with my vendors over email. Placing orders is actually a pretty small part of our day to day!

What are some of your favorite outdoor activities?

Ski mountaineering will always be my favorite sport. Others that are up there include trail running, trad climbing, mountain biking, and a hint of canyoneering.

What is your favorite outdoor area?

Too many to choose from! I have a long list of objectives in the Wind River mountains of Wyoming, so I plan to spend some more time there. The Alps are the best mountains I have ever been to, but getting over there is not so easy!

What is your dream vacation spot?

Skiing couloirs to the edge of the ocean in Norway, particularly in the Lofoten area!

What is your favorite food to chow-down after a long day of adventuring?

Indian or Thai food, all day!

Are there any activities that you would like to try someday?

I would love to get more into packrafting and trying out paragliding/speed flying.

What gear from Liberty Mountain are you loving?

I am a sucker for all of Grivel's ski mountaineering products. Ghost Tech axes, Ski Tour crampons, the Scream Micro belay device, and the Mistral ultralight harness are just to name a few that I use consistently.

We are very lucky to have Jackson on our team here at Liberty Mountain! Jackson started as our Assistant Buyer back in 2020 and quickly worked his way up into a Buyer position. He is a fast learner who is always willing to help out his teammates when they are in a pinch and he does a fantastic job managing our technical product categories. His passion for the outdoors makes Jackson a perfect fit for Liberty Mountain and we grateful to have him on the Buying Team!
